The British Army are offering schools the chance to take part in some exciting opportunities in March 2022.

British Army Band

The British Army Band is coming to the East Midlands in March 2022.  They are offering schools the chance to book a 45 minute session where they can play music, which could include your pupils playing their instruments with them.  The only requirement they have is that the area used is undercover.  The morning of 16 March 2022 has been reserved for use by a Leicester school and there may be a chance to perform at a second school if close by / linked school.

International speaker opportunities

There are still spaces for the Force Atlantic 21 (a mixed British Army team of two males and two females will conduct a 300 mile row across the Atlantic Ocean in an 8.5m rowing boat this December) team to come to your school and present to your pupils.  Spaces are available between the 1 and 3 March 2022.

The following individuals will present their adventure:

Captain Scott Pollock (2 and 3 March 2022)

Scottish and from a military family, Scott grew up in various locations. He joined the Army at age 16, serving in the Royal Signals until his transfer to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. He is notorious for his passion for rowing and has represented the Army in almost every rowing class available. He has also completed at multiple World and European Championships. Now he supports more than he competes but was ecstatic to see the British Army on the podium at the World Championships in Paris 2020 after years of building the sport. His children refer to him as ‘Cap’ (Captain America), although the only real resemblance is the red, white and blue in our nation's flag. 

He says the team is perfectly balanced, motivated and hungry to make this event a huge success and he is enormously thrilled to guide them.

WO1 (SMI) Victoria Blackburn (1 March 2022)

Victoria is from Lancashire and served in the Royal Military Police before she transferred to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. As a veteran of multiple tours of Afghanistan and Iraq, she now supports the physical development of our soldiers and officers.  As a girl she played every sport and got involved in almost every adventure available, including the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. These days she can be found navigating across the great plains of our continents, including the Swiss Alps, the Sahara Desert and our own Scottish Highlands.
